You can use this guide to understand all networking requirements for running Newbridge software at your property. This article covers the essential network specifications, mobile device connectivity, firewall configurations, and anti-virus settings you need to implement for optimal system performance.
Network Specifications
To ensure optimal performance, your network must meet the following requirements:
Category 5 Ethernet (CAT5e) or Category 6 (CAT6) cabled internal network.
All relevant cables must be pre-patched into wall ports and to a switch.
All EPoS terminals, not mobile, must be connected via cable to the network. There must be no Wireless or Range Extenders or Power Line Adaptors used.
Mobile EPoS Device Environment
The mobile devices need to connect to a Wi-Fi network that is part of the business network or at least the same network that the EPoS server is on. We would usually recommend putting the device into a learning mode or installing a kiosk app. This will just give users access to the apps that they need and not the full operating system on the device.
Firewall Safelist
The EPoS system utilises some of the latest Microsoft Azure and AWS technologies as well as modern API connections. As such, the EPoS terminals will need to be able to access the following URLs. If your internet connections are restricted, then these will need to be provided to your IT systems managers:
getbeamer.com
googleapis.com
gstatic.com
blob.core.windows.net
*.gravatar.com
*.optimizely.com
octopus.app (ports 10943 and 10933)
CIDR range 20.54.231.112/28
*.visualstudio.com
*.applicationinsights.io
console.newbridgesoftware.co.uk
4.175.252.115 - AppGateway
resdiary.com/OAuth/V10a - Only required if using the ResDiary interface
restaurantdiary.com/WebServices/Epos/v1 (Only required if using the ResDiary interface)
Third-Party Anti-Virus Requirements
We constantly improve and keep the software up to date with the latest patches and features. To do this, we remotely deploy the latest versions to your systems.
The processes involved can, in rare cases, be blocked by Third Party Anti-Virus applications. Please ensure that the following exceptions have been added to allow applications to run in these directories:
C:\Octopus*
C:\Program Files\Octopus Deploy*
C:\Program Files\Newbridge Software Ltd* (32-bit)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Newbridge Software Ltd* (64-bit)
Newbridge file share is to be provided by the installation engineer
