This article covers the operating systems we support, minimum technical specifications for your terminals, pre-installation requirements, and mobile device recommendations. EPoS terminals
Our sales representatives will be able to offer advice on purchasing new EPoS hardware: till units, thermal or impact printers and cash drawers. A close relationship with our own preferred suppliers means that we can guarantee full compatibility, ease of deployment and assistance with any warranty-covered repairs.
We would expect the machines we are installing to be of the minimum specification.
The EPoS terminals must have a Windows Operating System. Please see the version list below; we have taken into account your PCI compliance when compiling this list.
Supported Windows operating systems
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC
Unsupported operating systems
Windows XP and all variants: No longer supported by Microsoft after 12 January 2016. Therefore, we will not install any products on machines with this operating system. This is the responsibility of all businesses to ensure they comply with all PCI-DSS regulations.
Windows POS Ready 2009: Microsoft ceased support for this operating system as of April 2019.
Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Windows POSReady 7: No longer supported by Microsoft as of October 2020 and December 2021 respectively.
Windows 8.1: Microsoft mainstream support ended in January 2018, and the extended support ended in January 2023.
Windows 10: Microsoft ceased support for this operating system as of 14.10.2025.
Pre-installation requirements
Before any installation of Newbridge EPoS is carried out, we advise that all systems are fully patched, for example all Microsoft Windows updates are installed. The computers must be running a minimum of .Net 4.7.2 and PowerShell version 5.1.

Mobile EPoS devices
We use, recommend and supply tablet devices that use the Windows 11 operating system.
We do not recommend the use of Android or Apple devices due to the complexity of setting up and maintaining RDP apps on the devices and the potential use of CALs (Client Access Licence) on servers.
